Duke Dog Visits More Homes

Me and Duke Dog went home and we saw Ironman.  We played with my tablet and we saw YouTube.  We visited my toys and we played with my Marvel Ironman toy.  Duke Dog played with the captain America toy and then we went to bed.
Duke Dog and I ate pizza for dinner.  We played with my DSXL/  After we ate, we played in the snow and we watched movies.  I also took Duke Dog to church.  I had fun with Duke Dog this weekend.
Duke Dog became friends with my glow worm named Baby Blue.  Duke Dog and Baby Blue watched Doc McStuffins.  We also played the Twister game.  Duke Dog couldn't sleep with us.  So he slept in the corner of my room.

Story Fair Projects

First grade students at our school created "Story Fair" projects in February.  Each student had to choose a fiction book and create a display that shows the story elements of the book.  Below are some of the completed projects.  For some reason, 2 of my pictures didn't save.  Sorry about that, Christian and Damion!  Your projects were great!

Here Comes the Sun!

Children in Room 20 are learning about the relationship of the Sun and the Earth.  We have discovered that it is the Earth that moves, not the Sun.  To prove that concept, we braved cold temperatures to measure our shadows in the morning and at noon.  We noticed how shadows changed shape and how the Sun seemed to move in the sky.

Damion traces Abigail's shadow.
Roger traces Crystal's shadow.

Axton Connection Mall

As a way to connect real-world experience to our study of economics, first grade classes hosted for parents the "Axton Connection Mall."  Each classroom was home to 5 different "shops" that provided goods and services to visiting parents and friends.

Room 20 had the "Art Emporium" which sold student works of art, the "Eagle Eatery" which sold refreshments, the "Eagle Urgent Care," "Shine On" which provided a shoe shine service, and "Plant and Grow Flowers" which sold floral arrangements.  The students had fun while learning what it was really like to work a "real" job.

Damion and Rachel with the help of Mrs. Frith sell refreshments to Damion's mom at the "Eagle Eatery."

Roger checks out his father's ears at the "Eagle Urgent Care."
Damion, Rachel, Ty'Karius, and Vincent work to sell food and drink to mall patrons.
Makayla, Trinity, Hayden, and Emma create and sell floral arrangements.

Jay, Elijah, and Emmanuel, and Crystal shine a father's shoes at their "Shine On" shop.

Saul, Weston, and Abigail sell student artwork at the "Art Emporium."
Christian, Savannah, and Roger work to diagnose Mrs. Dixon's illness at the "Eagle Urgent Care."
