Thank you YMCA

Students in room 20 wrote thank-you letters to the Martinsville YMCA for providing them work swimming lessons last month. Below are a few of those letters.

Thank you for the swimming lessons.  The lifeguards helped us swim.  It was a great time.

Our First Published Writing

We finally have some great writing in the hallway!  The children worked so hard at planning, writing,  fixing mistakes, and then writing again.  We all chose our favorite American symbol to write about.  Stop by room 20 to see our work on display!

Magna Vista High School Visits Our Class

On Friday, Jada and Trey from Magna Vista came and read the story "Skeleton Hiccups" to our class.  They also encouraged the children to study hard and behave in order to achieve their goals.  We enjoyed their visit so much!

No Bullying Pledge


On Monday, our class signed a pledge promising not to bully.  We are proud to make a stand against bullying and want to keep our school a fun, safe place to learn!

Patriot Day-Remembering September 11

 In Honor of Patriot Day
September 11, 2014
Students at Axton Elementary participated in a ceremony to honor and remember those who perished on September 11, 2001.  The students created cards for fire and police departments and rescue personnel.  In addition, students participated in a parade to honor special visitors.  We will never forget 9/11!
