Marshmallow Shapes

On Friday, December 15, we enjoyed creating 2-dimensional shapes using marshmallows and toothpicks.  We discussed sides, vertices, and right angles.  Then students were challenged to create a 3-dimensional shape with the same materials.  Of course, we had to eat some of the marshmallows when we were finished!

Christmas Tree STEM Activity

On December 1, children in Room 107 had the challenge of building a Christmas tree out of Play-Doh and straws.  Each team worked together to build their tree.  They discussed how to make it more stable and solved problems together.  Excellent collaboration!

Ellie Works on Writing

I am so excited for Christmas.  You get presents.  At the pumpkin patch you get to see Santa.  I get to have a Christmas tree in my room.

I love my pet.  His name is Chandler. His birthday is on November 1st. He is a yellow lab.  He is a fun dog.  I like to play with him outside and in.  He's my brother.  He likes to play basketball.  He is a fun friend.  I will love him forever. He was born before me.  He is nice. He's never barked.

We made turkeys in school.  It was fun making the turkeys.  We got to dress the turkeys.  It was fun for everyone.

On Friday we did math partners.  Lesly and Tyler and I were partners.  We counted pumpkin seeds by tens.

So Many Seeds

The children enjoyed investigating the inside of their pumpkins last week.  We thought that smaller pumpkins wouldn't have many seeds,  but we were wrong! Most pumpkins had between  300 and 400 seeds.  Thank goodness we've learned how to count by 10s, and now we can count by 100s!

At school we counted our seeds out of a pumpkin.  It was fun.  It had orange on it.
